The Team

Nigel Griffiths

Base Building Consultancy was established by Nigel Griffiths to provide building surveying, project management and party wall surveying services to commercial clients. Prior to incorporating the company, Base Building Consultancy, Nigel worked at P.H. Warr, as head of building surveying in London, and prior to this at Keningtons LLP.

Nigel also spent some of his career working for Wilks Head & Eve, whose senior partner at the time was instrumental in the development of the Party Wall etc Act 1996. Nigel holds a BSc in Building Surveying and is member of the Pyramus & Thisbe Club, a specific organisation whole members are seen as experts in Party Wall matters and neighbourly disputes.

Nigel is a Chartered Building Surveyor and member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. He regularly chairs RICS assessment of professional competence panels for applicants wishing to become members of the RICS. Nigel has extensive experience in all aspects of commercial building surveying and has advised clients on properties throughout the UK.

Andrew Harding

Since starting with Base Building Consultancy in April 2014 Andrew has been involved in a range of residential refurbishment projects. He has also acted as Party Wall surveyor, completed survey inspections, as well as other professional appointments. Over the last year he has run several major works projects from inception to completion and thrives on being busy.

Prior to joining Base Building Consultancy Andrew worked as a Building Control Surveyor which gave him a good knowledge of Building Regulations.
He is currently working towards his APC and regularly attends RICS and Party Wall seminars after work.

When Andrew isn’t working he can often be found at home, doing various DIY projects. He has his PADI Advanced Scuba diving qualification allowing him to dive down to a depth of 30 meters.

James Yip

Since graduating from University obtaining a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, James has seen the light in terms of changing discipline and a taking up a career in building surveying.

James currently is employed as graduate building surveyor aiding the rest of the team in day to day building surveying instructions.
